Vision Director
John Rose Henderson
Getting the stories to the people since 2014, John Rose Henderson has helped share the stories of hundreds, over thousands of shots and tens of thousands of miles. From TV stations across the nation, his award winning photojournalism has communicated the stories from all walks of life in America. Now with Rose Tinted Vision, he’s bringing years of professional storytelling experience directly to those he has covered for so long. Using his production knowledge and informed perspectives to uplift underserved voices, and empower people and communities directly with dynamic and powerful storytelling.
From the Summer of 2011 with a $20 usb-cam, he was fascinated by video’s power to communicate stories. Interest which had the opportunity to grow at the University of North Texas thanks to scholarships from the Greater Texas Foundation & Emerald Eagle Scholars Program. Over his three years studying for his Bachelors in Radio, TV, and Film, he volunteered at North Texas Television, where he explored shooting, editing, interviewing, graphics creating, and various other aspects of TV production.
Graduating in the Spring of 2017, John Rose’s first station out of college took him to Southern Oregon's local ABC affiliate, KDRV-NewsWatch12. There, he began learning about, and capturing the lives & local news of the Rogue Valley. Hundreds of miles away in a never-seen state, his first year in Oregon was one of incredible challenge and discovery.
For the second year of his career in TV news, John Rose returned to his hometown of San Antonio, TX. At the local NBC affiliate, News4 San Antonio-WOAI, he further developed his storytelling toolkit, learning how to operate larger news cameras, weather trucks, and editing programs. From morning meetings, day shoots in the field, and editing all the elements for the evening newscast, WOAI is where his growth began to take root.
Understanding his home anew, he helped communicate the vibrant colors and people of the Alamo City, and the various hardships faced by many throughout South-Central Texas. During the heights of the Covid-19 pandemic, the George Floyd protest, and the Great Texas Freeze of 2021, his stories documented the destructive results of stressed & failing institutions. Within those darker times however, John Rose also noted the strength & resilience within the people to persevere. It’s during this time he began getting his prescriptions rose-tinted. A reminder to envision and fight for better in a continuously shifting world.
In Fall 2021, his photojournalism journey took him north to Colorado’s Front Range. Joining the local ABC affiliate, KMGH-Denver7, his photojournalistic skills began to blossom. From national stories such as the Marshall Fire, Club Q shooting, and migrants freezing on Denver’s streets, his storytelling always returned to the people, and the power of communities. As his time with legacy news continued however, he better recognized the limitations of telling people’s stories within the confines of commercial breaks.
So, in May of 2025 he left television news to pursue independent storytelling with his media project Rose Tinted Vision. A community-focused video production company dedicated to supporting progress-minded community groups with dynamic video solutions & skills.
